I was thrilled to see Scott, Rachel, and their West Virginia friends return in this gripping thriller. The story takes us on an exhilarating journey, starting with a mysterious accident at Scott’s home, leading us to a rehab center nestled in the stunning mountains of West Virginia, followed by a vacation in Petra, Jordan, and a dramatic kidnapping to Iran.
The deep, enduring friendships between the characters make them instantly relatable, and their unwavering willingness to do whatever it takes to help each other creates an emotional connection. The plot is full of unexpected twists, keeping me hooked as the characters outsmart their captors at every turn, moving across different settings.
As in the author’s previous novels, the vast knowledge of the spy world enriches the story, offering intriguing insights and fascinating facts along the way. The limericks sprinkled throughout provide a fun respite, lightening the tension when lives are hanging in the balance.
